Jersey Gov. Resigns

Democratic NJ Gov. McGreevey resigned today. He doesn't quit say why he is resigning. But he's coming clean over a personal scandal and has had several previous ones in the past.

It is sad to say, but he is probably one of the more honorable democrats. Faced with mounting problems that link to him, he is calling it quits ad is hoping someone else can fix it. Rather than blame a predecessor or successor.

Au contraire...

Governor McGreevey is anything but honorable. Unfortunately, WND and other sources such as CNN aren't giving the whole story.

The only reason that McGreevey exposed himself and his gay affair is because he was blackmailed. Golan Cipel, former director of the Office of Homeland Security in NJ, threatened a lawsuit of sexual harassment against McGreevey if the gov. didn't pay a reported $5 million cash settlement. McGreevey didn't want to pay up, so he instead publicly exposed himself and resigned from office.

Golan Cipel was a man with whom McGreevey at one point had an affair before they had a falling out and McGreevey persued another gay affair with another man. Cipel had been named the director of New Jersey's Office of Homeland Security in 2002. He had no prior experience in security aside from having served five years in the Israeli Navy. I didn't even know Israel had a Navy. In fact, Cipel wasn't even an American citizen when he took office (I don't know whether or not he is now). The man came to the U.S. on a visa that McGreevey helped him to obtain. Good job on jeopardizing our lives to further your gay affair, gov.

So now we have Cipel still threatening to sue McGreevey for sexual harassment, and McGreevey is leaving office under all of the pressure. Only problem is that McGreevey isn't going to leave the office until November 15th. Had he left office immediately, Jersey would, under state law, have to hold a special election to choose our new governor. Because he's not leaving until November 15th, the citizens of NJ aren't being given the right to choose their next gov.

McGreevey may as well have just stood up on stage and said, "Folks. I'm a gay American. I cheated on my wife so I could have a gay affair with two men. I put all of your lives in danger by electing an unqualified man to the head of Homeland Security. I'm now being charged with sexual harassment by this same man. And I've been a weasel and a scumbag through this whole affair. So to pay you back, I'm not letting you choose who you want in office next..."

Way to go, McGreevey.

And what was up with Mrs. McGreevey holding hands with her hubby through the whole press conference? I mean, it's reasonable to defend Sen. Hillary Clinton by giving her the chance to salvage her marriage and her family, but what does Mrs. McGreevey have to salvage? Her husband is gay! I don't think that she's going to be able to salvage anything anytime soon. I do feel really sorry for their kids, though.

Like I said before... THERE AIN'T NOTHIN' LIKE JERSEY POLITICS!
