The goal of this blog is to allow the writer to vent on articles and experiences that make him angry and to open up discussions in a hostile atmosphere. So please sit back and relax as I convert you to the dark side.

AWB Expiration? Not so fast!

Everybody out in our nation from the internet to real life are getting butterflies in their stomach because of the probable expiration of the AWB. There are those out there making list of guns they'll be buying the next day and how every home will be filled with 30 round magazines and Feinstein and company will die of horrible heart attacks.

As lovely of a scenario this is it won't be quite so. All the guns listed in the ban can still and will be found in gunshops, albeit higher priced. Thirty round mags can still be obtained, if you don't mind paying the mint price for them. The day of the ban's demise will be a celebrated day but its death is only mostly symbolic of bad legislation passing on in the annuals of failed flawed projects.

Another thing to take note on is even when it is dead, it will still take some time to note any effects. It will be weeks to months before production of high-cap mags will start and even longer for them to hit the market. After all the slow wheels of corporate America are turned it will still even be a while before the prices will drop. (Since supply will definitely not hold off demand.) The same can be said for guns.

So don't get your hopes up on walking into a gun shop the day after the ban expires to get 30 rd AK clips for $5, 50 rd 22 clips for $10, and 20 round glock mags for $14. The wait will be a bit longer.
